Coolum Kite Festival
17-18th September 2005

Hi-Res image available

The Festival kicked off at 4pm on Saturday afternoon, although as we began to arrive that on the Friday and Saturday morning, many would have been very worried about the weather forecast. With reports of major wind damaging coming in from some areas of the Sunshine coast on Friday night, ships that couldn't get into the Brisbane river...the weather was predicted to settle completely by Sunday.
But the evenings activities went on, and were a great success with promise of more the next day.

Sunday dawned a beautiful blue Queensland day and soon kites and banners and the crowds started to fill the beach..
The organisers of the festival may have learnt some lessons from last year, as they excelled themselves even more so than the last.
The Crowds enjoying the Kites, Skydivers and roving entertainment are proof of that (30,000 predicted and it seems they were all there).
There was also great coverage in the local newspapers and the local tv news as well.
Another brilliant Festival.
Cant wait 'til next time!!

Some members of the AKA were present again this year and Peter Lynn bought a few of his monstors to thrill the crowds.
